Developing the entire student
to their potential is the ultimate goal of AHCS. In
addition to academic and spiritual training, our athletics
program seeks to further develop each student’s physical,
critical thinking and social skills. Participation in
athletics is a privilege earned by our student athletes.
It is structured around the belief that hard-work,
commitment, selflessness, and discipline leads to success
on the court, in the class room, and in life.
The AHCS boys varsity basketball team
competed in the Michigan High School Athletic Association
for the first time during the 2005-2006 season. AHCS
competes in Class D, primarily against Christian schools,
parochial schools and academies. Our first year was a
rousing success. Local sporting gurus expected very little
from the Cougars. Alas, AHCS knocked off Waterford Our
Lady of the Lakes in the first round of districts. It was
characterized by some as "the upset of the tournament."
The boys bowed out in the second round, losing a
hard-fought battle to Franklin Road Christian in a game
that went down to the wire.
