 FAQs

  • Sign-up here, submit physical obtained in the current school year, pay the fee.

  • No, a physical completed on or after April 15, 2021 is good for the entire 2022 - 2023 athletic season.

  • Your son/daughter can physically drop the form off to the school office or it can be emailed to the Athletic Director.

  • We do not hold tryouts to join a team. However, depending on how many students we have interested, there may be tryouts to place students on either a JV or Varsity team. This system provides students more opportunities for game experience.

  • Yes, $125 for 4th through 7th grades, $150 for 8th through 12th grades. There is a discount for students playing multiple sports. Currently, sports fees are charged to the school bill.

  • AHCS is part of the Southeast Michigan Athletics Conference (SMAC). We play other Christian schools with similar student body populations. We are also an MHSAA school.

  • Uniforms are provided for Basketball, Baseball, Soccer and Middle School Volleyball and Boys Volleyball. Girls Varsity Volleyball have purchased custom uniforms in the past. The Coaches create packages that are reasonably priced and notify parents ahead of the first season game. Other sports may design warm-ups at the cost of the individual athlete. It is best to check with the Coaches at the beginning of the season.

  • We are currently working on a new communication method to provide consistency across the Athletics Department.

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday after school. Saturday mornings and afternoons once season contests begin. Coaches will publish a schedule at the start of each sport season on GameChanger, updates will also be published on GameChanger.

  • We do our very best to transport every student athlete to the games. We have 2-15 passenger vans as well as Coaches and parents transporting to the game and back to the school after the games.

  • Yes, in season sports typically practice during school breaks with adjusted times. Speak to your student’s coach for more information.

  • At AHCS we emphasis the student in student athlete. All students must maintain a 2.0 GPA average and no failing grades at the end of any marking period throughout the season. If a student falls below this average, they will not be permitted to team practices or compete in any contest until their GPA meets the requirement. Please see the student handbook for more information.

  • If a student misses school they will not be permitted to participate in practices or games for that day. There are a few exceptions to this rule which must be discussed with the Coach prior to the missed day. AHCS Athletics adheres the illness policy outlined on page 16 of the Student Handbook.

  • Yes, there is a parent meeting at the beginning of the year for the school year. Each Coach may have a sport specific parent meeting. Parents are also required to volunteer throughout the year during home games. We depend on volunteers to run concessions, admissions, scoreboard/time clock and line judge during Volleyball Matches. We do our best to ensure parents are able to watch their student play.

  • For our middle school teams, parents are welcome to contact the Coach to excuse your student athlete from practice, tardiness or if they have to miss a game. High school athletes are encouraged to take the responsibility of notifying their Coach when they will be absent or late for a practice.

Please wait 24 hours after a contest if you would like to speak to the Coach about the contest. This time will give you the opportunity to gather your thoughts to not provoke an adverse reaction. In the best interest of your student athlete's sports development, it is important to separate game emotions. Coaches depend on a healthy parent/coach relationship to get the best out of the season and the student athletes.

  • It may be very difficult to accept your child not playing as much as you had hoped. Our coaches are professionals and passionate about using their sport to continue the AHCS purpose of developing leaders. They make judgment decisions based on what they believe is best for all participants. Gameplay and personnel must be left to the discretion of the coach.

Issues NOT appropriate to discuss with coaches:

    Playing time.

    Team strategy.

    Other student athletes.

The procedure you should follow when addressing a concern with a coach:

Set up an appointment through email.

It is expected that your student athlete will be a part of the meeting. Since the focus of the meeting will be centered on your student athlete, we believe that the athlete needs to be present at the meeting. Getting all parties involved in the discussion will assist in coming up with a plan to address the issue.

If the meeting with the coach did not provide satisfactory resolution, you may call the Athletic Director to set up a meeting. At this meeting it is also expected that your child be present. This meeting will determine the next step.

  • Yes. AHCS hosts Summer Camps for certain sports. There are also camps we recommend for the different sports. Please email the Athletic Director.
